Preparing Your Logo for Print — A Guide for Tanzanian Businesses
A well-prepared logo file ensures sharp, clean results whether you are printing on business cards, banners, T-shirts, or signage. At Xpress Printing Tanzania in Moshi, we see many businesses submit logos that are not print-ready. Here is how to prepare yours correctly.
Step 1: Use Vector Format
Your logo should be saved as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF). Vector logos scale to any size — from a business card to a billboard — without losing quality. If your logo was designed in Adobe Illustrator, request the .AI file from your designer.
Step 2: Convert to CMYK Colour Mode
Screen colours (RGB) look different when printed. For accurate colour reproduction, convert your logo to CMYK colour mode before sending to print. This is especially important for brand colours that must be consistent across all materials.
Step 3: Outline All Text
Fonts may not be available on every computer. To prevent text from being substituted with a different font, outline (convert to curves) all text in your logo file before sending.
Step 4: Provide Variations
A complete logo package should include:
- Full colour logo (CMYK)
- White version (for dark backgrounds)
- Black version (for single-colour printing)
- Logo with transparent background (PNG)
- Horizontal and stacked versions if applicable
Step 5: Minimum Size Requirements
For screen printing on T-shirts, your logo should be at least 300 DPI at the final print size. For large format banners, 150 DPI at final size is sufficient. For business cards, always use 300 DPI.
Do Not Have Print-Ready Files?
If your logo was designed years ago and you only have a low-resolution JPG, we can recreate it as a vector file. Our design team at Xpress Printing Tanzania offers logo vectorization starting from TSh 30,000.
